Guilford AA JOL Happy Hour Business Meeting

Attendance:

Officers Present: John D. as Business Mtg. & Service Chair, Jo–Treasurer, Herb S.–GSR & Web Site Chair, Ann Z. – Secretary

Officer Not Present: Pam D.—Coins and Books

Others Present: Harley

Opening: John D. welcomed all and opened the meeting with the AA Responsibility Statement: “I am responsible when anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help. I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that I am responsible.”

Old Business: none

Secretary’s Report:  Ann reported that the minutes of the 9-4-2015 meeting had been published on the Group’s web site. Herb made a motion to accept last month’s minutes from the Happy Hour website. The motion was seconded by John and approved unanimously.

Coins and Books Report: Ann reported that Pam sent out 2 Coins/Cards for anniversaries in August.

Service Chair Report: John reported that there was nothing new happening. He reminded the Group that he was still covering the “hosting” responsibility for the Tuesday meeting and looking for someone for that position.

Treasurer’s Report: Jo reported that the group’s 7th Tradition contributions in July totaled $69.00 with $1,462.02 donated Y-T-D.

The current balance for the JOL Happy Hour Meeting is $585.83 (not counting the reserve of $400).  $985.83 was deposited into the Citizen’s Bank account. Expenses reported for September were $36.14 for the group’s Zoom monthly subscription. Jo also noted that a donation of $200 would be made to the Thanksgiving Alkathon.  John D. made a motion to approve the Treasurers report, it was seconded by Ann Z. and passed unanimously.

GSR Report: As Herb’s term as GSR has ended, Ann Z. volunteered to become the new GSR. A motion to approve Ann’s nomination was made by Herb, seconded by Jo and unanimously approved. Herb also reported that dinner was served at the September meeting apparently drawing a more than usual attendance.

Herb also reported that District 20 has purchase 100 copies of the 1st edition of the Big Book to give away to newcomers.

And finally, herb reported that a new bookmark card has been made available to pass on to newcomers. It provides space for meeting attendees to provide their phone numbers and two QR codes: 0ne to access the online meeting guide and the other to access the online questions “Am I an Alchoholic?” Herb will bring copies to the live Friday and Saturday JOL morning meetings. A motion to approve Herb’ report was made by Jo, seconded by John and unanimously approved.

JOL Web Site Report: Herb reported that the Group’s website receives about 3000 hits per day on its Daily Readings page. Herb also noted that there have been no changes in the Web site and noted that he is always willing to welcome any new suggestions. Jo made a motion to accept Herb’s report, John seconded, and the report was unanimously passed.

New Business: Future Donations- Jo raised the point that the Group should set aside funding for future Donations including: Christmas Alkathon in Branford, New Year’s Eve in Guilford, and the Quarterly District and Area Groups in January. The Group moved to put this suggestion on the next meeting’s Agenda.

Chairman’s comments/Adjournment. John D. made a motion to adjourn, it was seconded and the meeting was closed.
