Ann Z – Secretary
Absent: Herb – GSR & Website Chair
Others Present: Karen C., Bud, Ed Jr.
Dan A. opened the meeting with the Serenity Prayer.
Old Business: Last month, Dan initiated a discussion of the Group’s nomination processes to assure that the current process is not a deterrent for some meeting participants to engage and do service. He was concerned that opportunities may not be given to people who want to volunteer.
At this meeting, after reviewing comments from others on the committee, Dan indicated that he may have been jaded by an outlier incident at another meeting and that there is nothing further to discuss about the Happy Hour Group’s nomination process.
John D. reiterated that usually there are no volunteers and that individuals in service positions are almost always nominated and approved by a vote. He noted that sponsors of those new to A.A. should make these new people know that they should volunteer. Dane asked if there were any questions or comments. There were none.
New Business: none
Secretary’s Report: Ann Z. reported that the minutes for the 12/4/2024 Business Meeting had been posted on the group’s Website and Dan A. asked for any questions or comments. There were none.
Service Chair Report: John reported that all was running well and said he was happy Michelle had joined the team.
Coins and Books Report: Pam reported that 5 coins and cards had been sent out in December – no books.
Treasurer’s Report: Jo noted that she was celebrating one year as Treasurer for this this group. She was congratulated on her fine performance by Dan and other members of the Committee. Jo reported that in December, 7th Tradition donations came in at a relatively low level of $50. Total 2024 year-to-date 7th Tradition donations through December are at $2,169.67.
The current balance for the JOL Happy Hour Meeting is $188.80 (not counting the reserve of $400). $588.80 was deposited into the GSB account. Total expenses reported for December were -$234.01 ($34.01 for the groups’ Zoom subscription and $100 each for donations to the Branford Christmas Alkathon and the Guilford New Year’s Eve Alkathon.)
Jo also noted that the Area 11 donation check is no longer outstanding.
In conclusion, Jo pointed out that the year-to-date expenses don’t appear to jibe with YTD contributions. She clarified that there were outstanding donations that had not been recorded previously and we actually had more money in early 2024 than had been reported.
Dan A. asked for any questions or comments. There were none.
GSR & Web Report: Because Herb was unable to attend these reports are deferred until February’s meeting.
All GSR minutes are posted on the district web site at: https://d20a11.org.
Chairman’s comments. Dan A. made a motion to approve all service reports at once at the end of the meeting This motion was seconded by John D. and Jo, unanimously accepted, and the reports were approved.
Adjournment: Dan A. asked if there was any further new business – none was mentioned. The meeting was unanimously called to adjournment.
